recently toured Israel for a first-of-its-kind trip that focused on
bridging differences and embracing diversity within the Christian Faith.
Included in the trip were individuals from the Universal Life Church as well as individuals from the following Christian Churches:
A Non-Denominational Church, Assemblies of God, Seventh Day Adventist,
UPCI, the Greek Orthodox Church, Anglican Church, and Roman Catholic
from the Archdiocese of Chicago.

Wherever the bishop appears, there let the people be; as wherever Jesus Christ or Life is, there is the Universal of (Jesus Christ or Life) Church. It is not lawful to baptize or give communion without the consent of the bishop. On the other hand, whatever has his approval is pleasing to God. Thus, whatever is done will be safe and valid. — Letter to the Smyrnaeans 8.
It is from the word katholikos ("according to the whole") synonymous with Christian that the word catholic comes. When Ignatius wrote the Letter to the Smyrnaeans in about the year 107 and used the word universal, he used it as if it were a word already in use to describe the Church. This has led many scholars to conclude that the appellation Universal (Life) Church with its ecclesial connotation may have been in use as early as the last quarter of the 1st century. All Christian Churches even the Roman Catholic Church spun from the Universal Church of Antioch, founded in 107 AD by St Ignatius.
Do not mistake the Universal Life Church World Headquarters, also known as the Universal Church of Antioch with any other non-Christian Universal Life Church. Universal Life Churches in Tucson, AZ., Seattle, WA. and/or Modesto, CA., are churches without a Traditional Doctrine of Faith. These churches spun from a church founded in 1959 by a radical, twice defrocked, excommunicated minister, Kirby Hensley known as Life Church. Hensley was a self admitted con man, kook who ran for President in 1964 on a platform to establish an ambassadorship to deal with extra terrestrials and who later attempted to make his church a kingdom, self proclaiming himself to be a king. Hensley passed away in 1999, many believe he would of been sent to prison if it wasn't for his timely death to avoid a prison term. The Internal Revenue Service has since stripped the Universal Life Church of Modesto, CA. tax exempt status. Furthermore, ministers of these other Universal Life Churches, monasteries or so called seminaries are not even looked at as legitimate ministers for serving as wedding officiants in all 50 US states and/or counties.

Brother Michael - Rev. Michael J. Cauley

Brother Michael is the only leader of a Universal Life Church to have been baptized, confirmed and ordained within the Christian faith. However, make no mistake Brother Michael will tell you the leader of the Universal Life Church is not he, but it is Jesus Christ. Brother Michael is only President of the ULC because man's law requires such, but there is many who comprise the hierarchy of the ULC and together we are each disciples of Christ doing what we do out of love for all of our brothers and sisters.
Brother Michael has had a life long affiliation and friendship with the Salvatorian Order and the Sisters of The Divine Savior, both Religious Orders having played an instrumental role in his upbringing. Even though it was an informal relationship, with three of his sisters being Sisters of the Divine Savior, Brother Michael credits the SDS and Salvatorian Community for much of his knowledge, experience and simply keeping his head on the right track. Brother Michael views both communities as an extension of his family and loves them dearly.
Brother Michael has 18 years of private school education, holding a BS, Secondary Ed K-12 and a Masters, as well as a Doctorate in Theology, Th.D. Brother Michael holds further certification through Cardinal Stritch College of Milwaukee, WI.
Brother Michael in June of 1982 founded Universal Fortune Group, more commonly known as UFG Ministries, the parent company that merged with and became known as the Universal Life Church World Headquarters. In the past 30 years Brother Michael has become a highly successful administrator, entrepreneur and benefactor for a number a charities. At the time of the merger UFG Ministries had a following of nearly 3.5 million, with 7,500 ordained Ministers throughout the world. Through the years Brother Michael has received a great many titles and awards from various organizations.
Despite being raised in a staunch Catholic environment, that included taking a pathway to the Priesthood, Brother Michael opted to walk away from the Roman Catholic Church believing he could fulfill his calling not just as a Minister, but as a Father and family man as well. Brother Michael also has a very stable, rewarding and gratifying home life with three children of his own, two grand children and more on the way.
